A project aimed to re-design one of the Key Websites for Cumulus Media - KSFO.com. This is a long term project under progress.

KSFO - Speaking the Voices of Bay Area
THE NEWS-TALK SPACE
KSFO 560 is an AM Channel Website which airs a conservative talk radio format.

The Bay Area’s exclusive HOT TALK radio station. Whether it’s talking about public transit, the public school system, the Mayor, the President or the federal deficit, KSFO Radio talk shows are driven by issues and callers. The hosts respond according to their own convictions.
THE FEATURES AND THE TARGET
As a channel concentrated on News talk the main features for the station are the Podcasts, Listen Live and News Feed.
The minor features with less traffic are the Contests and Event page. These features get their audience via Newsletter and Creative word of the mouth on Radio.
The target audience are in the age group of 40+. The Main Business model was to modify the space to fit in the Millenials to listen to KSFO.
THE CHALLENGE
The Existing Website is old-fashioned with news organized only as a textual content.
The goal is to remodel the website to attract an audience of different age groups to the site - Increasing the traffic.
Accessible and Responsive Website is the goal from a Design Perspective.
The Missing Pieces of the Web
How we went about with the Design
THE TEAM
As a part of the Digital Team, We were given this website to revamp the look keeping in mind the main Features. The goal was to enhance the Features in a way that Listeners of the channel are lured to the website and benefit from it.
THE DESIGN PROCESS
The approach to renew this website required us to study the mind of the target audience.
We went with an atomic design approach since the website has the main features organized as columns and any changes made to the site is reflected Live.
The Website was broken into components which require the revamp and each component was broken into atoms. For Example, The Header of the page was broken into Navigation Bar, Social Icons Groups and Search Bar
After the trace for the atoms, we analyzed few trending News Websites which has the highest Retention rate and more page views. KSFO.com is a News + News related Podcast and hence making the News and podcast intermingled in display and content is essential
The idea was to remodel every atomic segment and then the component which will leave us to a final design.
The missing criteria on the site were Image-based News Layout, Inaccessible Typography and a non-dated content.
The Site is built on Headway - A wireframe based Content Management Platform. So it has its limitations which was a factor to be considered.
Mobile-First Approach is another approach we followed during the remodel since this site has more visitors on the mobile platform than on the Web
BUSINESS VALUE PROPOSITION
ATOMIC DESIGN
KSFO.com has a Mobile App associated with it and we had in mind to align contents in a way where consistency is maintained on both Web and Mobile platform
The site has an access to minimum images. Hence our proposed design includes Images but on a smaller proportion than the news text.
